Industrial wastewater recovery: efficient water management for businesses
Using water efficiently supports operational continuity and environmental performance in water-intensive industries.
Industrial wastewater can contain suspended solids, organic matter, oils, salts or process-specific chemicals. The right recovery strategy starts with understanding the wastewater stream, its variability and the quality required for reuse.
What is greywater recovery?
Greywater generally refers to wastewater from sources such as showers, washbasins and laundry, excluding toilet wastewater. After suitable treatment, it may be reused for non-potable purposes such as toilet flushing or irrigation, subject to local regulations, a fit-for-purpose treatment design and safe operation.
Why recover water?
- Reduce demand for freshwater where reuse is technically and economically appropriate.
- Improve resilience to water supply constraints.
- Support resource efficiency and sustainability objectives.
- Make better use of wastewater streams within a facility.
How a project is assessed
Assessment considers source and flow, quality variation, intended reuse, treatment barriers, storage, distribution, monitoring and operating capability. Industrial effluent is not automatically suitable for reuse; process-specific analysis and applicable approvals are essential.
MITTEM evaluates treatment and recovery options against project requirements and applicable environmental rules. Contact our team to discuss a site-specific assessment.
